MWELA, along with the Washington Council of Lawyers and the Washington Bar Association, invites you to join an evening discussion on Harnessing the Media as an Advocacy Tool on November 13, 2018. This panel will provide guidance to attorneys seeking to use the media to tell their clients’ stories and hold employers accountable for discrimination.  In the #MeToo era, the media serves as an effective tool to challenge discrimination and bring real change to a broad range of workplaces.  This conversation will prepare attorneys to utilize public exposure as an advocacy tool, exploring when it is appropriate (or not) to leverage the media, how to use the media to find clients or witnesses, and how the media can encourage programmatic or systematic relief.  It will also touch on how to manage or control public exposure, and ways to guard against concerns like defamation claims.  A reception will follow the panel.
